Important COVID-19 Update: Meetings, Visitors, Gatherings and More

COVID-19 Updates -blue sideRecently, we’ve been able to relax our COVID-19 guidelines because of the decline in COVID-19 cases in our area and within our system.

As we head into the holiday season, we want to provide updates on our current COVID guidelines.

At this time, we have made changes or updated our policies on meetings, visitors, holiday gatherings and social events, and face masks.

Please continue to monitor internal communication channels for the latest updates. Thank you all for your cooperation to keep everyone safe.

Magnet Month Awards: Nurse Leadership Team of the Year and Innovation Award

Last year, Cook Children's Medical Center became the first freestanding children’s hospital in North Texas and 10th in the world to receive Magnet® designation from the American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC). To continue celebrating this amazing achievement, The Cook Children's Magnet Committee would like to recognize some of the deserving individuals who represent the model components of Magnet.

Congratulations to Emily Percy, Lynne West and Sandy Manoushagian on 5 South Tower for winning the 2022 Nurse Leadership Team of the Year Award! You can read their nomination here.

CareATC: How to Get Started With CareATC and Counseling Sessions

CareATCCareATC can be your home for acute medical services, preventive screenings and management of chronic conditions – with same-day appointments available – for no more than $10 per visit.

Cook Children’s contracts with CareATC as an employee benefit offering affordable primary care, convenient locations and prompt scheduling. There are five locations in the North Texas area, including one near Cook Children’s Medical Center.

Employees at Cook Children’s can also take advantage of free counseling sessions available through the Employee Assistance Program. Benefits include six sessions per incident, per calendar year for employees, their adult dependents and minor children.

Save the Date! Cook Children's Family Day at Six Flags Over Texas

Six Flags Purchasing Ticket Instructions_Page_1We are so excited to announce Cook Children's Family Day at Six Flags Over Texas! Join us from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, for a day of family, fun, food and thrills. 

This is a special private event and the park is open only to Cook Children's and two other companies. That means less wait times for all your favorite rides and shows!

Beginning next week, employees will be able to purchase up to six discounted tickets for themselves, their spouse or significant other, and immediate family members. Additional tickets are available for families with more than six immediate family members and to order those, please contact Amy.Smith@cookchildrens.org.

*Children 2 and under are free and do not need an admission ticket!*

*If you have a Six Flags Season Pass, you’ll need to show your Cook Children’s identification badge at the gate. Any family member attending with you that has a season pass must be at the gate with you for you to show your badge for admission.

Your special event ticket is $21.65  per person ($20 per ticket + $1.65 tax) and includes admission and parking (normally valued at $124.99 per person). A variety of food and beverages will be available to purchase that day throughout the park.

Tickets go on sale next week and instructions to purchase will be posted on the CookNet scroll!


Employee Engagement Reminders: Halloween Hoopla and Discounted Sports Tickets 

hoopla tcu (2)This month is jam-packed with employee engagement opportunities, including the return of Halloween Hoopla and the opportunity to wear jerseys and purchase discounted sports games tickets. 

Halloween Hoopla is back!

Get your costumes, skits and décor ready and mark your calendars for 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. For Hoopla guidelines and all the participation forms, visit the Halloween Hoopla page on CookNet*. (Note: you must be connected to the network to access this page.) All employees are invited to wear costumes Oct. 28-31! 

Jersey Days and Discounted Sports Tickets

In addition to Halloween Hoopla, Cook Children's employees are invited to enjoy the return of football, basketball and hockey seasons this fall. All employees have the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets for TCU football, the Dallas Stars and the Dallas Mavericks. 

To celebrate the start of the NHL and NBA seasons, employees can wear their favorite hockey jersey from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16, and their favorite basketball jersey from Oct. 21 to 23. 



The Next On-Campus Blood Drive is on Wednesday, Oct. 26

carter bloodcare socksEmployees have the opportunity to donate blood at our next on-campus Carter BloodCare Drive from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 26. As a thank you, donors will receive two pairs of socks in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness, while supplies last.

Happy Health Care Food Service Workers Week! 

food service week Health Care Food Service Workers Week is the first full week in October and honors all the professionals who help our employees, patients and families stay well-nourished and healthy. 

Thank you to all of our Camelot Court and retail food outlets for all of your hard work each and every day. You can watch this video on how our Food & Nutrition Services team kept the house fed through the latest ice storm in February 2022.
