Big News: Treat Yourself to an Exciting Day at the Medical Center on Monday, Oct. 31

checkup-newsletter-graphicIt was a Halloween trick but now it’s a special treat for you! It’s time for a day of fun at the Medical Center!

At 11 a.m. at the circle drive ( right in front of the Medical Center)

We’ll come together as a connected system to celebrate something we’ve been hard at work developing over the last few years: our culture platform. This was the event originally scheduled for Nov. 1, but we decided we couldn’t wait and wanted to get the party started.

At 2 p.m. at the same location is the return of Halloween Hoopla! Be sure to register here.* *Note: you must be connected to the network to access this page

10 p.m. at Camelot Court

For our awesome evening and night teams, this is the time for you. Don’t be afraid to stop by to learn how we’re connecting the dots with our culture platform.

You all are next on Nov. 8, for your own culture platform celebration.

We have you penciled in for Nov. 17, for the culture platform event.

You’ll get more information as we get closer to the event, but we couldn’t wait to tell you this news. See you soon for a time of excitement, fun and laughs that we all deserve!

Pandemic Spurs New Infectious Disease Unit at Cook Children’s

ideunit3We’re so excited to announce the completion of our new infectious diseases critical care unit (CCU) inside the Medical Center, meeting the need for a clinical facility dedicated to the treatment of patients with contagious illnesses.

The expansion ensures children with highly infectious diseases will be treated in the safest environment possible. The unit’s design and technology allow for the treatment of the sickest patients while also protecting our staff and the community from the spread of illness.

“I work for a system that pursues whatever is needed to improve a child’s health or save a child’s life,” said Mary Suzanne Whitworth, M.D., medical director of infectious diseases at Cook Children’s. “This new infectious diseases CCU is that next great opportunity and we are all thrilled to be a part of it.”
